Welcome to Windows DVD Maker

Welcome to windowsdvdmaker.com - this site is intended to help you get the most out of Vista's DVD Maker software.  Be sure to check out the Beginner's Guide to Windows DVD Maker.

A few other links to note are some sites in the community that will help you as you create your DVD projects:

  • PapaJohn.org - PapaJohn is one of the most helpful members of the community and a genuinely nice guy.  His site covers Windows Movie Maker and Photo Story and there is now a Vista section covering topics like Windows DVD Maker.
  • WindowsMovieMakers.net - Windows Movie Maker authority site.  If you have questions on how to get your video ready, this is the place to go.
  • WindowsPhotoStory.com - This site is maintained by me (Mark Coffman) as well, and it will help get your still photos into a professional-looking movie format, with numerous transitions and motion controls.

More to come!

This site is great; however, I was curious to ask if you guys think Microsoft will ever release a version of Windows DVD Maker that works with Windows-XP 64 Bit Edition?  I'm currently running Vista Ultimate RC1 until Microsoft pulls the plug on me.  When they do, I'll go back to using Windows XP Professional 64 Bit Edition.  Other than the Aureo-Glass look, we like shiny OS's don't we, and Windows DVD Maker, I really don't presently see the advantage of shoveling out $300 for bells and whistles so to speak.  Anyhow, that's my blog.  What do you guys think?

Here are my system specs:
Custom Build:

MLB: MSI RS480M2-IL mATX Socket 939
CPU: Athlon-64 3000+ (1.8 GHZ) I'm hoping to upgrade CPU to Opteron 170 soon
RAM: 2 GB PC 3200 DDR 400 MHz I'm hoping to max out RAM to 4 GB
HD:   One 250 GB Drive, One 80 GB Drive, Two 40 GB Drives (Yeup It's Packed)
DVD: One 12 Speed DVD+/-RW Burner
OS:   Dual Boot Windows XP Professional 64 Bit & Windows Vista Ultimate 64 Bit

Hello. I need help and good ol Dell wants to charge me for a program that once again does not work as it should. Here is my issue.

I am following the guidelines for WINDOWS DVD MAKER. I click on add files, go to my video file, click on it but nothing is recognized. I guess my first concern is, I have all these videos with which the only place I am able to save them to, is on my desktop. I then try to create a new file in VIDEOS. Yet although the file is there, each time I click on it, it says "NO ITEMS MATCH YOUR SEARCH". I have this brand new computer and nothing works. Please help me with this one. Thank you
