    A little bit more info?

What did you bring into dvd maker - was the video already a full picture/sound video to begin with just playing it on the computer or did the sound only last half the time?

If you brought in a video, and then music, could it simply be that the video play outlasts the length of the music?

I am volunteering ideas. Solutions that work for me may not work for you

Re: Sound is gone after about half of the video

The videos first came from my kodak camera, which are quick time videos. I uploaded them to youtube to show some friends, then saved them to my computer. They are mpeg or movie clip. That is what I burnt to the dvd. They play fine with windows media player and on youtube. I even put them on a flash drive and put them on anothe computer and they play fine.I've tried two dvd players and it does the same. They play fine about half way then no sound but the videos still go on until the next video and then it starts out with sound and does the same. This was the first time that I used the dvd maker, because I didn't know that I had it. Thanks...rocker

I got them to work. I took the quick time videos and converted them with Prismvideo converter(which is free) to mpeg and burnt them again and they play fine. Must of been something to do with the youtube video files. Thanks...rocker

Do you have any codec packs installed?

Re: Sound is gone after about half of the video

Hi Nick...I know nothing about codec packs. Where are they? I gave up on this dvd maker and used a free dvd maker called DVDStyler. All my videos work fine on it. I tried to burn 5 videos at one time in mpeg on the dvd maker and it would say it was encoding and it would freeze up at 15.3%.I slowed the speed down to slow and it made to 38.8% and freezed up...I give up. I tried it at least 3 times. The free dvdstyler worked fine. I would like to be able to use the dvd maker...if it would work right. Let me know what I should do...Thanks

Re: Sound is gone after about half of the video

Codec packs are sets of codecs and filters which are used to encode and decode audio and video files.

From personal experience, all the problems I experienced with Windows DVD Maker were caused by codec pack issues.  I took the decision to stop using codec packs and installing individual filters and codecs and since then, i've had no problems at all.

Google for the following as they may help:

DivX v6.8.5 (The installer includes the full DivX bundle including player/converter etc but you only need the codec)
    ffdshow (Beta 6) Revision 2527 (19-12-2008)
    Haali Matroska Splitter v1.9.42.1
    XviD v1.2.1 (04-12-2008)

    Hope that helps ;)
