What is the error message exactly?

Have you had success before burning a DVD?

What kind of system are you using?  Have you checked and installed any new updates for it lately?

I am volunteering ideas. Solutions that work for me may not work for you

I used to get this error fairly frequently and I followed all the usual advice by using k-lite or Vista codecs pack..I also unchecked various filters in Windows Movie Maker compatibility tab but the only thing that fixed the problem for me was to ditch codec packs and use individual filters and codecs.  ffdshow, divx, xvid and haali have sorted it all out :)
