I have exactly thge same problem. Windows Vista Home Premium and tried to use Windows DVD maker but the little box top right does not show any frives (just blank) and when I try to burn my movie, I get an error message stating that Windows cannot find a DVD burner.

I obviously DO have a DVD-RW drive as this appears as such in My Computer and also in device manager. Tried to update drivers but all up to date. Changed region to Region 2, rebooted etc etc

    Any suggestions gratefully received

    Jon

    Re: how to connected burner

Well Mark Coffman - it would appear that no one knows the answer to this problem.  I recentlt aquired a vista laptop and burned a few of my own videos to a dvd.  Tried it again and I too get the error message "can not find burner".  The only thing I did between each burning was install some software for my camcorder.  I'm wondering if the burner is only assigned to that software now and nt Windows DVD Maker.  Just my luck that no one knows. Is there any way of re-installing W DVD Maker? Thanks

    Re: how to connected burner

I have the same problem. My dvd/cd drive is recognised and works with all other applications, but not windows dvd maker!! No answers on microsoft support, no answers on here. Why can´t microsoft just fix the things that need fixing and leave the rest alone. If anyone finds an answer there will be thousands of other users with the same problem who will no doubt be as gratefull as me.

Found the answer on here to my problem, turns out my dongle modem was the problem. Whether you all have the same problem I don´t know. Check out page 2 of the forum see if it sounds similar.
