Windows DVD Maker

Help!  I am trying to burn a dvd, but during the encoding process is stops at 1.2 percent, and says "unspecified error."  I only have the vist codec 4.3.2...no 3rd party are on the computer (I think anyway)..can someone please help me...Darklord can you please work your magic for me??

Encoding goes till 50-60 percent then it runs until reaches 99,9 then I get this window. Strange that preview works perfectly. How could I investigate the problem? it's dummy from the wdvdmaker that doesn't send any error message...

i have the same problem. i made a holiday movie with Movie Maker, exported it to DVD Maker, made the menu and then started coding/burning. It works fine until 12-18% or something. Then it just stops (no processor activity) or i get the same error as above. does anyone know a solution?

Been talking to HP all night and all they told me was to repair my operating system. Messing around with operating system is pretty risky to my though, I just want to make a music video DVD for my car =/

mine used to get to .9 % @ encoding and then i replaced the harddrive and re-installed vista and now it works fine when i burn one file, but i still get the error and it stops burning at 99% when i try to burn multiple files. i read somewhere that files with poor lighting and other imperfections on the video file are simply unable to be burned. i was told also to try and use movie maker to lump several clips or files together but i still run into the 99% / stop burning problem. {solution: maybe try another dvd burning software. this one is awesome when it works but it is verry rare that i get it to work, and it never burns multiple video files}

Hello guys! I think I have reached a breakthrough here!

 

I also got "unspecified error", luckily already at 0.2 % encoding. Having that error at 99 % would be terrible annoying! To find the reason for this error, I had to move back to Windows Movie Maker and choose “Publish to my computer” instead of “Publish to DVD” to track the cause of this error. The “unspecified error” in DVD Maker seems to be closely related to the "Cannot complete publish movie" (in spite of the fact that I had plenty of space on my hard drive etc.) in Movie Maker. As long as I had the latter error in Movie Maker, the former error was shown in DVD maker.

 

I discovered that Movie Maker was able to publish my movie to the computer after I removed all the pictures I had placed between the movie clips. I also discovered that pictures that had the resolution 2560x1920 (width x height) pixels could be included in the video without causing error! That is, after removing all pictures that did not have the resolution 2560x1920, the movie could be published without error!

 

Still, I wanted to use all my pictures and therefore scaled all pictures to 2560x1920 (all of them had lower resolution in advance) in Microsoft Office Picture Manager. And “voila”! Now Movie Maker was able to publish to my computer, and DVD maker was also able to publish to DVD!

 

Why Movie Maker can’t handle pictures with resolution below 2560x1920 is to me a mystery. But I don’t care anymore. The only thing that matters is that Movie Maker and DVD Maker is back on track! (at least for me…)

okay so I have the same problem and am following your advice so hopefully it works because my movie needs to be finished soon but I must not be doing exactly what you said because, even though I changed the resolution to your required 2560x1920, when I add my pictures to my movie (by simple clicking and dragging) the resolution is back to normal when I check its properties in the timeline. I know I saved the pictures to be that resolution because when they are in my imported media they have the 2560x1920 resolution I gave them. It's only in the movie that it isn't working. Maybe it just does that, but I want to be sure because I don't want to redo my movie four million times before it's finished.
